The post holder is tasked with designing and delivering a high-quality programme to support both the holistic development and well-being of all Academy players, across all age groups within the Academy u9-u18, ensuring that welfare and well-being are prioritized.
The Academy Head of Player Care is a key member of the Academy Management Team, working closely with other department leads to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to supporting young people both at the Football Club and beyond.
Role Responsibilities
1. Oversee the delivery of the Life Skills programme for various age groups.
2. Manage and implement personal development and life skills plans.
3. Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities, including induction and transition processes for all age groups:
* Implement the Academy’s Induction and Exit Strategy.
* Support the safe induction of new players and their transition.
* Ensure a clear exit strategy and support for released players.
1. Engage with players and families:
* Lead the parent voice group and collaborate with the Academy management team for feedback and improvements.
* Communicate effectively with players and parents regarding Academy operations.
2. Safeguarding and Welfare:
* Promote safeguarding and welfare in partnership with the Academy DSO, Academy Manager, and Safeguarding, Welfare, and EDI teams.
* Support the Academy Head of Education & Welfare in safeguarding and player welfare best practices.
* Evaluate and enhance the Academy’s mental health and well-being strategies.
3. Performance and Wellbeing:
* Support performance psychology programmes and workshops.
* Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion through training and workshops.
* Create a wellbeing risk database and develop interventions.
4. Stakeholder Engagement:
* Build relationships with external stakeholders.
5. Operational Responsibilities:
* Plan and manage travel logistics for players.
* Fulfill audit requirements in accordance with EPPP rules.
* Participate in multidisciplinary reviews for player care and wellbeing.
* Support the Club’s responses to audits and assessments.
6. General Duties:
* Be present and approachable during training evenings.
* Contribute to review processes and support meetings.
* Perform any other duties as reasonably assigned.
7. Health & Safety Responsibilities:
* Ensure personal and others’ health and safety at work.
* Comply with the Club’s Health & Safety policies and legal obligations.
8. Safeguarding Responsibilities:
* Adhere to safeguarding policies and report concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Officer.
* Maintain an Enhanced DBS check due to the nature of the work.
