Introduction
2 caring, friendly and passionate Personal Assistants are required to support a lady with a disability with daily living tasks for 23.5 hours per week. Hours can be split between 15 and 8.5 hours per week. A driving licence is essential for this role. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and is intended for this lady to maintain her independence.
Main Duties
* Support with personal care, as required, including washing, showering and dressing.
* Assist with applying cream to legs.
* Support with accessing toilet facilities.
* Support with nutritional needs.
* Provide incidental cleaning – wiping kitchen surfaces, washing dishes after meals, wiping spills to prevent slips and falls; change and launder bedding as required.
* Support with accessing community venues and trips out, including shopping.
* Motivational support.
* Cover when another personal assistant is absent.
* Carry out any other reasonable requests from family or me.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Providing personal care needs of the employer, such as washing and toileting.
* Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence.
* Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community.
* Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest.
* Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills.
* Providing companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation.
* Encouraging the employer to attend appointments.
* Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours.
* Carrying out any other reasonable tasks that are requested.
* Ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act.
* Being mindful of safeguarding issues and reporting concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately on 01267 228751.
* Being responsible for contacting GP, Social Worker or Local Authority if the employer needs medical assistance.

* A full, clean driving licence; use of a car is likely to be required.
You must be prepared to have business use on your vehicle insurance to drive to place of work but be able to drive my mum her vehicle and be comfortable with use of electric wheelchair in and out of the car.
* Be prepared to undergo training to best meet the employer’s needs.
