Responsibilities
1. Manage and coordinate all aspects of design across multiple projects
2. Ensure designs meet project requirements, statutory regulations, and client specifications
3. Act as the main point of contact for consultants, architects, and subcontractors on design issues
4. Lead design reviews, RFI coordination, and value engineering exercises
5. Ensure design documentation is issued in line with procurement and construction programmes
6. Work with the commercial team to review tender returns and manage design-related risks
7. Attend and lead design team meetings, internal progress meetings, and coordination workshops
8. Maintain close communication with planning and compliance teams regarding design changes
Requirements
9. Proven experience as a Design Manager with a Tier 1 or major main contractor
10. Background in construction, architecture, or engineering
11. Strong knowledge of building regulations, design coordination, and construction methods
12. Excellent organisational and communication skills
13. Degree-qualified in construction, architecture, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
