What difference will you make?
You will support Hammersley Homes to continue to provide outreach to people throughout Hampshire who are living with an enduring mental illness. Our network of staff and trained volunteers has regular contact with over 100 people across the county, providing friendship, a listening ear, and encouragement to engage in local activities. You will be part of our plans to develop Day Centres and permanent Supported Housing. We are currently enabling social gatherings and plan to develop this opportunity further. Our housing plans are at an early stage and extending our fundraising reach is vital.
What are we looking for?
We aim to strengthen governance by recruiting trustees who have personal lived experience of mental illness, or who provide professional or family support. We want trustees to be proud to represent us, act as ambassadors, and promote the charity to their networks and at fundraising events. We are particularly keen to recruit a finance trustee to provide guidance and ensure compliance.
* General responsibilities of trustees: contribute to the promotion of Hammersley Homes’ objects, aims and reputation; apply skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts.
* Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor their implementation.
* Oversee financial plans and budgets and monitor progress.
* Ensure effective administration; identify, monitor and control key risks.
* Provide support and challenge to the CEO.
* Stay informed about changes in Hammersley Homes’ operating environment.
* Act with independent judgment, legally and in good faith to promote and protect interests.
* Accept responsibilities and liabilities as trustees and act in the best interests of the organisation.
* Think creatively and strategically; exercise independent judgment.
* Demonstrate effective communication skills and a willingness to participate in discussions.
* Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

What will you be doing?
Trustees oversee the overall management and administration of the charity, ensuring a clear strategy aligned with our vision and operating in line with it. You will support ongoing outreach to individuals across Hampshire and work to develop Day Centres and permanent Supported Housing. You will represent Hammersley Homes, promote the charity within your network, and attend fundraising events. We are particularly looking to recruit a volunteer finance trustee to provide guidance and ensure compliance.
