About the Opportunity
If you’ve completed a Mechanical Engineering qualification with specific toolmaking modules or projects and want to begin your career in a Toolroom, this is a brilliant opportunity to develop into a fully skilled Toolmaker.
We’re partnered with a long-established manufacturing business that’s opening the door for someone who already has a foundation in toolmaking and wants structured, hands-on development.
What You’ll Be Involved In (Training Given):
* Assisting in the repair, modification and development of tooling, dies, jigs and fixtures
* Supporting tool strip-downs, fault-finding, adjustments and rebuilds
* Carrying out inspections using precision measurement equipment
* Working with Engineering and Production teams to resolve tooling issues
* Keeping documentation, tool logs, maintenance notes and reports up to date
* Maintaining a clean, organised and safe toolroom environment
What You MUST Have:
* A Mechanical Engineering qualification (BTEC, NVQ, HNC/HND or Degree)
* Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Toolmaking experience gained during college/uni, such as:
* Toolroom-based projects
* Tooling design modules
* Jig/fixture assignments
* Die/mould tooling knowledge
* Tool strip-downs, fitting, or assembly work
* A genuine interest in developing as a Toolmaker
* Good attention to detail and a practical, problem-solving mindset
* Someone who enjoys hands-on precision work (not general machining!)
