JOB DESCRIPTION


Part-time Personal Assistant


A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I’m a lady in my mid 80’s living in the Penarth area. I spend most of my days at home, but I do like to go out into the community. I have limited mobility, but I have a wheelchair I use. I used to enjoy reading, but I am unable to do this now as I registered partially blind.


PURPOSE OF JOB

I am looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support me in the home with personal care & with accessing the community.


HOURS OF WORK

13.5 hours per week:

1. 7 x 1 hour in the morning for day preparation
2. 3 hours for social interaction (shopping or social activity) during weekdays
3. 7 x 30 minutes bed preparation

Job Share would be considered.


RATES OF PAY

£12.80 per hour
Double time on bank holidays


TASKS INVOLVED

1. Personal care (showering & dressing)
2. Supervising of my mobility and transfers
3. Meal preparation
4. Supervising me out in the community
5. Go to the sea front
6. Shopping & social activities
7. Suggest things for us to do
8. Provide me with company
9. Ensure I am safe and comfortable at all times


TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

1. PA(s) to have similar interests and a mature outlook
2. PA(s) to be sociable, friendly and confident
3. Someone who will make me feel comfortable
4. PA to be car driver/owner with business class insurance - your car will need to be able to fit my wheelchair
5. Female required due to personal care
6. Flexibility is an important aspect of this job


ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).

The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK.
