About the Role
Bridge House School is looking to recruit a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join our Senior Leadership Team. We are seeking an experienced, values‑driven safeguarding professional who is passionate about protecting and advocating for vulnerable children and young people.
As the DSL, you will have strategic and operational responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across all three school campuses. You will lead on complex and high‑risk safeguarding cases, working closely with pupils who present challenging behaviour and have experienced trauma, families, staff, and a wide range of external agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead, providing expert leadership on all safeguarding and child protection matters
* Manage and oversee complex and challenging safeguarding cases, including contextual safeguarding, exploitation, criminal and sexual abuse, neglect, and mental health concerns
* Liaise effectively with children’s social care, police, health professionals and other external agencies
* Ensure safeguarding policies, procedures and practice are robust, compliant and consistently applied
* Maintain accurate, timely and confidential safeguarding records in line with statutory guidance
* Provide advice, guidance and training to staff, supporting a strong, confident safeguarding culture
* Contribute to leadership decision‑making with a clear focus on pupil safety, wellbeing and inclusion
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have substantial experience working with complex safeguarding cases, ideally within education, SEMH or specialist provision, and will hold or be willing to obtain accredited Designated Safeguarding Lead training.
