Position overview:
The Shift Manager will run a 12-hour shift, overseeing safety, quality, production, and spoilage.
Key responsibilities include:
* Ensure safe working practices are adhered to at all times and promote good housekeeping and safety awareness across the team.
* Meet production, quality, spoilage, and environmental improvement targets set by leadership and the plant budget.
* Investigate equipment and process defects promptly, using the team and outside assistance to undertake corrective actions.
* Drive continuous improvements to minimize costs and liaise with engineering to ensure maintenance is completed satisfactorily, seeking methods to reduce breakdowns.
* Standardize equipment settings and operations to achieve specifications and product quality.
* Promote good industrial relations, identify training needs, and organize training to ensure team competence.
* Monitor and communicate team performance, taking corrective actions as needed to improve operations.
* Ensure effective material usage, identify programs to reduce waste.
* Provide leadership, motivation, and feedback to the shift team.
* Encourage and follow up on team ideas and suggestions, driving continuous improvement.
* Collaborate with other shift managers to control overall plant performance.
What are we looking for?
* Training in management systems.
* Experience in high-speed production; experience in food and drink industry is desirable.
* Leadership experience.
* Strong leadership, delegation, communication, organizational, and influencing skills.
* Proficient computer skills.
* Lean Six Sigma, 5S, and Kaizen knowledge (desirable).
* Fluent in written and spoken English.
