We have an exciting opportunity for a Public Health Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP & YOI Hollesley Bay, a category D Prison located in the village of Hollesley, near Woodbridge in Suffolk.

In this role you'll be working with a multi-disciplinary team that will support you and help you succeed. You will have the opportunity to provide the highest standards of healthcare to our patients, without having to compromise on efficiency and quality.

Hours:

Monday to Fri: 07:00 - 17:00 or 08:30 - 18:30

Weekends & Bank Holidays: 07:00 - 17:00

You will be expected to do a mix of shifts, including 1 weekend in 4.

Salary

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £47,466 per annum - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Public Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

* Lead on prevention, promotion and protection of our prison communities.
* Ensure effective and consistent delivery of national screening programmes, Health and Justice Indicators of Performance, health checks, blood borne virus screening, recording public health activity in the secure estate and leading our health promotion strategy.
* Be our Infection Prevention and Control Lead, maintaining standards and leading the management of outbreaks.
* Provide health promotion and disease prevention advice for patients.
* Coordinate all clinical activity in relation to screening and health prevention including section 7a and HJIPs; undertake screening of individuals and populations and respond appropriately to findings and work with others to protect the public's health.

Qualifications required

* NMC Registered General Nurse
* Demonstrate a passion for working in public health and infection prevention and control
* Evidence of post registration CPD
* UKPHR registration is highly advantageous, as is a public health qualification and Infection prevention and control qualification
* Non-judgmental and compassionate approach

Job responsibilities

As a Public Health Nurse, you will lead on prevention, promotion and protection of our prison communities. Your role will be key to ensuring effective and consistent delivery of national screening programmes, Health and Justice Indicators of Performance, health checks, blood borne virus screening, recording public health activity in the secure estate and leading our health promotion strategy. You will be our Infection Prevention and Control Lead, maintaining standards and leading the management of outbreaks. You will conduct IPC audits and training onsite and be the outbreak control link to coordinate outbreaks and report communicable diseases to PHE.

You will also:

* Provide non-judgmental care promoting population health, embedding our wellbeing approach and challenging health inequalities.
* Deliver and co-ordinate screening programs for patients ensuring our patients can access community equivalence.
* Inspire excellence by forging strong links within our teams, our partners and stakeholders and providing a service that people can trust, feel safe within and feel proud of.
* Promote public health principles, infection prevention and control policies and best practice care embedding a culture of shared learning.
* Share knowledge and skills in public health and infection prevention and control principles to ensure safe care and support each other to do a great job engaging with the process of reflection and supervision.
