As a Driver Trainer, your objective is to promote best practice in all aspects of logistics, training, and driver development. This involves maintaining the highest standards while supporting our transport teams in achieving logistics benchmarks. We aim to create a best-in-class, industry-leading, safe, and compliant standard for driver training and licence acquisition within MMiD, supported by structured, comprehensive training, support, and development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Carry out pre-employment driver assessments for both Permanent and Agency drivers.
2. Support MMID Health and Safety culture, including local safety campaigns.
3. Work with the Lead Driver Trainer to support safety roadshows, local driver forums, and national events.
4. Promote and deliver driver development, including Safe & Fuel-Efficient Driving aligned with performance indicators (Connexus).
5. Support driver CPC periodic training requirements.
6. Support internal LGV training opportunities.
7. Deliver all aspects of new driver induction training and existing driver development training, including vehicle and trailer familiarisation and manual handling techniques, in accordance with site or operational requirements.
8. Ensure compliance with company procedures and GDPR rules.
9. Support Company SSoW processes and related documentation for driver activities.
10. Ensure drivers are proficient in operating existing and new equipment.
11. Train CIP techniques as directed, depending on site requirements.
12. Verify that driver vocational licences are valid as part of the pre-employment process.
13. Maintain accurate data within the Tachomaster compliance system.
14. Support the Lead Driver Trainer in completing and supporting EU & RTWTD infringement remedial actions.
15. Conduct post-accident remedial training.
16. Communicate effectively with Compliance and Transport teams to ensure best practices are achieved.
17. Perform risk assessments of routes, delivery, and collection locations.
This list is not exhaustive, and the job holder may be required to undertake other duties. Relevant experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential. The candidate should be an effective team member, work well independently, demonstrate a positive attitude, be self-motivated, reliable, hold an HGV Class 1 Licence (LGV C+E), current CPC and digital driving card, and have no more than 6 minor points on their driving licence (no CDs, DDs, DRs, or INs).
