Job Overview:
As a Product Merchandiser at Joseph, you will play a crucial role in driving the performance of categories within our Women’s collection. You will analyse sales trends and data and develop effective merchandising strategies to ensure those categories meet our commercial goals and resonate with our clientele. This role requires a strong understanding of the luxury fashion landscape, analytical rigor, and an eye for product and market trends.
This role works closely with the Design, Product Development, Retail Merchandising, Production and Marketing teams to bring timeless, effortless, and sophisticated products to our Retail, E-comm & Wholesale clients through a spectrum of analysis and product planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Management
* Oversee the merchandising strategy and performance of your categories.
* Develop seasonal product assortments aligned with brand and business objectives, ensuring a curated product mix that balances commercial and aspirational pieces.
Sales Analysis, Reporting & Pricing
* Regularly analyse sales data to track category performance, identify trends, and recommend actions to maximize sales and margins.
* Prepare weekly, monthly, and seasonal performance reports, providing insights and recommendations based on data-driven findings.
* Help manage and maintain impeccable collection tools (Pricing documents, Collection Briefs, Sketch Plans, PLM, Market schedule, Collection tracker) to monitor all the collection activities.
* Define the pricing architecture of your categories to achieve mark-up targets and competitive pricing strategies and ensure these remain on track during the development process.
Collaboration & Communication
* Liaise with the Design and Product Development teams throughout the development process, influence and provide solutions to find the optimal balance between design vision and commercial goals.
* Work closely with Retail Merchandising, E-Commerce, Wholesale and Retail teams to align merchandising strategies with market demands and sales goals.
* Collaborate with E-comm, Marketing and Visual Merchandising teams to ensure cohesive and impactful in-store and online presentations for each of your categories.
* Monitor the collection development and guide the process to ensure adherence to the Collection Briefs and go-to-market schedule.
Market & Showroom
* Manage the showroom selling tools and training preparations for your categories - explain the collection direction and relevant product information to help convey the product strategy.
* Take an active part in the selling campaign, collaborate with Retail Merchandising to help define the master order and support the Wholesale team and their clients.
* Monitor sales during market and propose or communicate cancellations, additions and fit amendments to the Design, Product Development, Production, and Commercial teams.
Competitor Analysis
* Stay up to date with fashion trends, competitor activities, and market shifts within the women’s luxury segment.
* Conduct regular competitive analyses to inform assortment planning and identify growth opportunities.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience in merchandising, buying, or product management within luxury or premium fashion, with a focus on ready-to-wear, bags, or footwear categories.
* Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and merchandising/planning systems.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
* In-depth knowledge of the luxury fashion market and customer preferences, particularly within the women’s segment.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
