The Business Systems Team is responsible for designing, delivering, and managing these critical applications, ensuring they support operational excellence and empower our people. We maintain a secure, stable technology infrastructure and create seamless digital experiences that help the organisation operate efficiently and serve customers exceptionally. Collaboration is key to achieving this, and we work closely with vendors, partners, and internal stakeholders to provide the right tools, access, and support, ensuring technology remains a strategic enabler for Softcat's future success.

As an Environment and Release Manager, you will be an integral part of the IT team, ensuring high-quality project deliveries. Softcat are embarking on a CRM replacement programme to Microsoft Dynamics 365. The focus for this role will be on managing releases for the Dynamics 365 and related upstream and downstream systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving consistency and quality in system deliveries, managing the end-to-end release cycle, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure successful implementations.
As Environment & Release Manager, you'll be responsible for:
* Develop and maintain a detailed release plan, outlining key milestones, dependencies, and deliverables
* Managing the planning for and impact assessment of vendor upgrades of key business systems
* Oversee the end-to-end release lifecycle, from development and testing to deployment and post-release support.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for all release-related communications, ensuring transparency and alignment with business and technical stakeholders.
* Continuously evaluate and enhance release management processes, tools, and methodologies to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
We'd love you to have:
* At least ten years in a technology related leadership position
* Demonstrable experience leading fast-paced, complex business transformation programmes from a release and environment management perspective
* Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), version control systems, and CI/CD pipelines
* Familiarity with automation tools and deployment strategies.
* Proficiency in tools such as Jira, Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and containerisation platforms like Docker and Kubernetes.
* Experience with Azure cloud is a must
* Ability to plan, schedule, and track releases across multiple teams and environments.
* Skilled in methodologies like Agile and Scrum for managing iterative delivery
* Acts as a bridge between development, QA, operations, and business stakeholders
