Job Description:
A well-established social housing provider has an exciting new position for a Housing Repair Surveyor focusing on disrepair cases.
This role will concentrate on disrepair, damp, mould, condensation, fire damage, and structural issues.
The Role
Working as part of the case team with the property directorate management team, you will provide insight, experience, and direction. You will lead in delivering complex cases through a dedicated team, responsible for all cases within a defined operating area. You will have experience with various contract delivery models, ensuring customer involvement and safety as priorities, and providing efficient oversight of complex works.
* Conduct detailed property inspections to identify disrepair issues, including damp, mould, structural defects, etc.
* Prepare accurate reports and recommendations for remedial actions in line with legislation and best practices.
* Liaise with tenants, landlords, and legal teams to investigate complaints and resolve disputes.
* Ensure compliance with relevant housing legislation, including the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018.
* Work with contractors, maintenance teams, and external stakeholders to oversee repairs and ensure quality.
* Provide expert witness statements for legal proceedings if required.
* Maintain up-to-date records and documentation.
The Person
The successful candidate will have significant recent relevant experience and professional qualifications in building surveying. They will have a track record of delivering work programmes, handling disrepair and complaints, ideally in the public sector or a commercial environment.
* Degree in Building Surveying
* Individual Membership of RICS
* IOSH Managing Safely Certificate
* Experience in building surveying duties
* Knowledge of current CDM regulations
* Understanding of contract management issues
* Knowledge of construction materials
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Ability to manage and lead a small team of maintenance operatives
