Job Description: Safety and Security officer is responsible for routine patrols in and around divisional buildings giving particular attention to and often rechecking those locations. Patrols buildings, checks for unsafe conditions, fire checks, prowlers, vandalism, and other unusual occurrences. Makes rounds of assigned area at least three times during shifts, while making written reports and logs of issues found and operational duties. Promptly responds to emergencies and interacts with other care team members, patients, and visitors during normal activities while on shift. Monitors alarm activations and video camera systems for potential security and safety issues that are currently occurring as well as investigations of incidents that are past, with complete reports and recommendations sent to supervision. A courteous attitude is a must and the ability to verbally de-escalate situations as they arise, leading to possible physical management if the situation dictates.
Minimum Training: Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written. Ability to commentate tactfully with the general public and specialty patients to include patients with behavioral health concerns or those with altered mental status that may want to cause harm to themselves or others. Knowledge of methods of security in buildings and grounds to include ability to de-escalate situations once alerted. Ability to engage in physical confrontations with suspected offenders and handle situations as they arise.
Minimum Education: A high school diploma or GED is a requirement of this position.
Certification/Licensure: This position requires a current and valid driver’s license and minimal computer literacy. Ability to work overtime as required. Candidate must be able to pass a complete background check including a criminal background check
