Commissioning Engineer – United Living Group

As a member of our multi-skilled and mobile site team, you will be responsible for the on‑site testing, commissioning and sign‑off of our projects as well as assisting with installation works as required. The role has an electrical bias, but a solid understanding of mechanical and process systems is expected. You will be enthusiastic, keen to solve problems and help deliver projects that exceed customer expectations while complying with the Company’s management systems, occupational health and safety (OH&S), environmental and quality policies and requirements.


Responsibilities

* Carry out and supervise various MEICA installation, testing, commissioning and refurbishment works on existing water company sites in accordance with project requirements and programme.
* Provide assistance and support to the design, installation and commissioning teams as required.
* Assist in the production of P&ID’s, technical reports, Compliance Plans, Control Philosophies, Commissioning Plans, Commissioning Manuals, O&M Manuals and other project‑specific paperwork.
* Interpret and understand client requirements from drawings, specifications and standards.
* Liaise with the Project Manager, Commissioning Manager and procurement teams to ensure correct implementation of project and client‑specific requirements and correct purchase of plant and equipment.
* Work on client sites across the region – may be required to work away from home and stay overnight during the week subject to the project location and in accordance with project needs. Paid overtime may be required, especially when working away.
* Work outside and on sites that convey sewage as well as drinking water and comply with the necessary hygiene standards.
* Handle multiple projects simultaneously if required.
* Specify job requirements and the parts / equipment / materials needed, and compile survey reports for quotation purposes.
* Work in the company workshops as required.
* Read, understand, produce and follow risk assessments and method statements.
* Inspect, survey, identify faults, carry out works and test MEICA systems.
* Complete required paperwork for each project and compile reports to demonstrate installation, testing and commissioning work has been carried out successfully, accurately and timely.
* Utilise design drawings, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete assigned projects.
* Compliance with BS7671 requirements as well as company and client‑specific standards.
* Be accountable to yourself and co‑workers and take responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and all others under your control.
* Work as part of a team and cooperate with other staff / trades.
* Ensure the quality of your work on site is completed right first time and to company standards.
* Ensure compliance with the Company’s policies, procedures and work instructions, including commitment to OH&S, environmental and quality objectives and using correct personal protective equipment at all times.
* Observe and comply with all good working practices.
* Be capable of working at heights and in confined spaces in industrial environments.


Qualifications and Skills

* 5+ years’ related experience post‑qualification in MEICA installation, testing and commissioning, preferably in the UK water sector.
* Engineering qualification (degree / HND / BTEC) or apprenticeship in a relevant trade.
* Compliance with the 18th Edition (preferable).
* City & Guilds 2391 Test and Inspection (advantageous).
* Control and automation experience (advantageous).
* CSCS / ECS Gold card or able to obtain one quickly (preferable).
* PC‑literate with good communication skills.
* EUSR clean water card (preferable).
* Emergency first aid or First Aider (preferable).
* Able to work well in a team, supervise others and give and take instruction.
* Punctuality and reliability.
* Excellent health and safety knowledge and application.
* Willingness to learn and undertake training as required.
* Positive “can do” attitude with a flexible approach to work and ability to work on own initiative.
* Valid UK driving licence (essential).
* Confined spaces training (preferable).
