SLR has an exciting opportunity for an early career hydrologist to join our large team of water specialists delivering Environmental Impact Assessment Report chapters, Environmental Appraisals, Flood Risk and Drainage Strategies. Whether a Graduate with commercial experience seeking your next opportunity to progress, or an experienced Hydrology consultant seeking your next move, we'd love to hear from you. Our grades range from Graduate to Project, Senior, Associate, Principal, and Technical Director, and we are keen to make this appointment at Project or potentially Senior grade.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to join a large team of hydrologists and be part of a wider group including hydraulic modellers, hydrogeologists, geomorphologists, hydrochemists, and geochemists. The role will also provide opportunities to develop skills in business development, line management, mentoring, and project management. Our team supports projects in the power, mining, and environmental sectors, which are key growth areas for the business.
The Role:
Duties will include:
1. Preparing EIA Reports and EA water environment assessments to support planning applications;
2. Undertaking Water Framework Directive Assessments;
3. Conducting Private Water Supply risk assessments / Water Interest Surveys;
4. Designing surface water monitoring programmes;
5. Undertaking surface water monitoring;
6. Managing and preparing flood risk assessments to support planning applications;
7. Preparing outline SuDS concept designs for planning applications;
8. Client liaison and project management; and
9. Training and mentoring junior team members.
This position is part of the growth of our water team, which operates across multiple locations and sectors. We welcome applications from all UK offices, with significant current team members in London, Bristol / Bradford-upon-Avon, Manchester, Stoke, Nottingham, Newcastle upon Tyne, and Edinburgh.

What you will need
We are seeking an individual who:
* Possesses relevant academic qualifications (HNC, HND, BSc, BEng, MSc, MEng) or equivalent;
* Communicates effectively and professionally;
* Is working towards chartered status with a relevant professional body;
* Has strong analytical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities;
* Can work independently and as part of a team;
* Builds strong, lasting relationships;
* Manages time effectively with a proactive attitude; and
* Holds a full UK driving license.
* Experience in renewables and linear development projects is beneficial but not essential.
