Advanced Physiotherapist

The closing date is 04 August 2025

Fixed Term: 01 Oct 2025 - 31 March 2029 | 22.5 hrs (6 sessions per week) | Interviews to be held in September date TBC

Join our expert Gait and Motion Analysis Service at Sheffield Children's, working with physiotherapists, clinical scientists, orthotists, and orthopaedic surgeons. You will provide specialised assessment and management of children with diverse gait and motion conditions, as a clinical expert within our multi-disciplinary team.

What We're Looking For:

Qualified Physiotherapist with HCPC registration

Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy

Postgraduate qualifications/CPD in relevant areas

Experience in oncology, neurosciences, and/or musculoskeletal services

Flexible working timetable to be agreed with you

The Gait and Motion Analysis Laboratory, at Ryegate Children's Centre will relocate mid-2026 to the National Centre for Child Health Technology, Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park


Main duties of the job

You will report to the Team Leader, and your responsibilities include:

Assess and manage children with complex gait and motion problems

Be a specialist source of expertise and provide advice to the team

Deliver clinical education and training to Band 6 therapists, support staff, and students

Lead management of complex cases within a multidisciplinary framework

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Degree / diploma in Physiotherapy
* HCPC Registration
* Portfolio evidence of reflective practice
* MSc in Paediatric Physiotherapy or gait analysis or other relevant MSc Member of APCP
* Research qualification


Experience

* Significant and relevant experience in oncology and/or neurosciences and/or musculo-skeletal services
* Standardised Assessment tools
* Outcome measures
* Audit / Research / Service Evaluation
* Experience in gait analysis
* Active involvement in relevant special interest groups (CMAS / ESMAC / GCMAS)
* Appraisal / supervision / teaching of more junior staff
* Active involvement in relevant CSP special interest groups, or voluntary organisations


Skills and Abilities

* Ability to present information, written and verbal in a clear and logical manner
* Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate appropriately
* Ability to keep accurate and legible clinical records
* Ability to cope working in a stressful environment and within emotional or challenging situations
* Ability to communicate effectively and work well within a multi-professional team
* Ability to work independently
* Ability to organise internal / external courses
* Ability to demonstrate empathy, sensitivity and tact
* Excellent presentation skills


Knowledge

* Neurological / Developmental / Orthopaedic / Musculo-skeletal physiotherapy
* Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession
* Safeguarding procedures
* Advanced understanding of clinical governance and it's implications for services
* Understanding of family / team dynamics and how to develop working relationships with all involved in the child's care
* Understanding of the impact of disability on children and their families
* Understanding of data protection, confidentiality and health and safety requirements in meeting the needs of the child and family
* Standardised Assessment tools Gait analysis and biomechanics
* Special Educational Needs & Disability Processes
* Moving and handling legislation and current practice
