Job Overview
Please note that we have two positions available:
1.0 WTE (37.5 hrs) Fixed term 6 months
1.0 WTE (37.5 hrs) Fixed term 12 months
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic dietitian to join our large department within the inpatient ward team. This post would suit a newly qualified band 5 dietitian and contains a mixed caseload of medical and complex care wards. The post holder will be working closely with our existing band 5's in managing a wide variety of clinical conditions seen across the Trust.
There would be an expectation that this post holder would be involved in training student dietitians from both Plymouth and Birmingham City Universities, on completion of the clinical supervisory skills course.
We offer a variety of in house CPD opportunities, clinical supervision and preceptorships for newly qualified staff.

Main duties of the job
* To provide a dietetic service to specified wards at NBT such as complex medical and elderly care of the elderly.
* To provide cover during annual leave and unplanned leave to a variety of clinical areas.
* To deliver education and training on nutrition-related topics to a range of health professionals, students and patients.
* To contribute to implementation of the Trust Nutrition and Hydration strategy.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
* To provide and develop an effective and evidence-based general dietetic service to designated wards. This means
* providing expert advice to patients, carers and clinicians about the most effective nutritional treatment
* ensuring special diets and artificial nutrition meet or exceed all nutrient requirements despite significant dietary or medical restrictions
* liaising with members of the health care team in hospital and in the community to ensure they are fully informed and able to support the patient in implementing the appropriate nutritional prescription / management for their condition.
