What are we looking for?
Essential Experience
* Business Analysis Skills: Proven ability to analyse organisational needs, define requirements, and design effective processes. Experience with process mapping, requirements gathering, and solution design.
* Trustee/Governance Experience: Understanding of charity or non-profit governance, trustee duties (or director responsibilities for CICs), and best practices.
* Business Consultancy: Experience in providing strategic advice and practical solutions for organisational development, preferably in the non-profit sector.
* CIC Registration Insight: Demonstrable knowledge of the charity registration process in the UK, including the Charity Commission's requirements, or the registration process for CICs, and best practices for new organisations seeking formal non-profit status.
Desirable Experience
* Project Management: Ability to manage tasks, timelines, and resources effectively.
* Legal & Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with charity law, company law relevant to CICs, governance, and compliance.
* Previous experience as a charity trustee/director or advising non-profit boards is highly desirable.

* Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
* Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

What will you be doing?
Commitment
* Minimum of 4 hours per day, with flexible scheduling available for discussion.
Key Responsibilities
* CIC/Registration Guidance: Provide expert guidance, practical support and implementation through the entire registration process with Companies House for CICs, including advising on the most suitable legal structure, understanding legal requirements, drafting necessary documents, and navigating the application process.
* Business Analysis: Direct and deliver thorough business analysis to define organisational structure, operational processes, governance frameworks, and initial project scope.
* Trustee Support: Advise on the roles, responsibilities, and legal duties of directors for CICs, and assist with the creation and development of the board's foundational documents and practices.
* Business Consultancy: Manage and offer strategic consultancy services on developing the organisation's initial business model, fundraising strategies, and operational plans.
* Policy and Procedure Development: Lead in drafting essential organisational policies and procedures, including safeguarding, data protection, financial controls, and volunteer management policies.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Identify and engage key initial stakeholders, including potential partners, funders, and beneficiaries.
* Risk Management: Proactively identify potential risks to the organisation's startup and advise on mitigation strategies.
