About the Role: The role of a SEND teaching assistant is a varied role that will require empathy and resilience, experience employing targeted strategies to support students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs. Each day will vary, but generally you can expect to support with the following: • Settling in and supporting transitions throughout the school day. • Using visual aids, timetables, and charts to prepare pupils. • Recognise signs of distress and employ strategies such as sensory breaks and stories to de-escalate. • Help with mealtimes and ensuring safe play during breaktimes. • Monitor and record progress and feedback to class teacher and parents/carers. Key Details: Salary: £89 per day Hours: 8.15am – 3.30pm Contract Type: Full-time with potential for permanent placement for the right candidate About the School: This specialist school in Somerset provides education for children and young people aged 4–19 with learning disabilities.
