Our Sensory Support Service is looking for a passionate and dedicated Qualified Teacher of the Deaf (QToD) to join our team and help make a meaningful impact across Southwark.
About the Role:
As a Qualified Teacher of the Deaf, you will play a key role in delivering tailored support for children and young people aged 0–25 with hearing impairments. You will work across home settings, nurseries, mainstream and special schools, offering teaching, advice, and audiological support.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing individual and group teaching across the curriculum
* Supporting families in managing hearing aids and promoting language development
* Advising and training school staff on deaf awareness and inclusive practice
* Collaborating with professionals such as audiologists, SALT, and cochlear implant teams
* Contributing to Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and maintaining accurate records
About You:
You are a reflective and resilient practitioner who thrives in a collaborative environment. You bring a strong understanding of deaf education and are committed to inclusive, child-centred practice.
You will also have:
* QToD qualification and experience across the 0–25 age range
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
* The ability to provide specialist support to pupils, staff, and families
* Confidence using ICT to maintain records and deliver support
* Commitment to professional development and multi-agency working

You will be joining a highly regarded and experienced Sensory Team committed to delivering high-quality, inclusive services for children with sensory needs. We work across all Southwark schools and early years settings, building strong relationships with families, educational staff, and health professionals. Additional Information:
* You should be a qualified Teacher of the Deaf with experience supporting children and young people aged 0–25 across all ability levels.
* This post requires a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) DBS check at Enhanced level.
* This is a part-time role of 22.75 hours per week
