Our team works across five key areas of housing expertise: construction, repairs, improvements, contract management, and safety. We manage a diverse range of housing assets, including approximately 8,400 domestic homes, independent living schemes, community centres, and temporary accommodation for the homeless. Your Role As the Housing Standards Team Leader, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of our Housing Service. Key Responsibilities Include: Lead and Motivate: Manage and inspire a local team of skilled tradespeople, ensuring high standards of quality, performance, and safety across all services. Ensure Compliance: Oversee the delivery of a responsive repairs service that aligns with our Housing service levels, plans, and strategies. Drive Change: Support the implementation of innovative practices to achieve our ambitious housing strategy goals. Engage with Tenants: Lead by example in engaging with tenants and leaseholders, ensuring their needs are met and communication is timely and clear. Compliance and Safety: Maintain accurate records of asset information and tenant communication, ensuring the service complies with housing and safety legislation. People Management: Lead recruitment, development, and absence management processes, fostering a high-performing, motivated team. Problem Solving: Address and resolve MP and Councillor enquiries, as well as complaints, ensuring they are dealt with effectively and in line with our complaints process. What We’re Looking For To succeed in this role, you'll bring the following expertise and qualities: Knowledge & Experience: A solid understanding of best practices in social housing, particularly around tenant safety and the Decent Home Standard. Experience in managing housing repairs and delivering excellent customer service. Leadership Skills: Proven experience in managing teams, with the ability to prioritize, plan, and organize workloads to meet deadlines and targets. You should be comfortable driving change and continuous improvement. Communication Excellence: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a keen ability to problem-solve and offer practical solutions. Decision-Making: Confidence to make decisions within your area of responsibility, always considering the best outcomes for tenants and the service.
