Overview
Trainee Parkinson's Disease Nurse Specialist - Progression Post, Band 7 Clinical Specialist Nurse, is an opportunity to join our established Parkinson’s disease team in East Kent. The role supports delivery of patient-focused care across wards, clinics and community settings within the Neurology workforce. The post is based on evidence-based practice with the patient at the core of every pathway. 70% of the role is expected to be spent in clinical activity as part of an agreed job plan.
Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload autonomously while working as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure timely communication and collaborative working across services.
* Provide care at an enhanced practice level aligned to the four pillars of advanced practice; deliver clinical care and therapeutic interventions in a complex healthcare environment.
* Record objective and accurate patient information using paper records and electronic systems in line with Trust policies.
* Promote evidence-based clinical practice and involve patients and carers in their treatment, supporting them to manage their own care and recovery.
* Liaise and collaborate with colleagues within the organisation and with external stakeholders as appropriate.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Currently in a trainee Band 7 Clinical Specialist Nurse role or equivalent with progression potential in Parkinson’s disease care.
* Must complete the PD UK induction programme and internal EKHUFT Parkinson’s Disease competencies; salary progression from Band 6 to Band 7 upon completion.
* Experience in Neurology and ability to work at an enhanced level of practice with post-graduate knowledge and skills.
* Ability to manage discrete aspects of patient care in collaboration with the MDT and align with the four pillars of practice.
