Role Purpose
The Data Partner Manager is responsible for proactively establishing and developing existing and new strategic relationships with data partners to maximise data sharing opportunities for social good.
This role requires a highly proactive individual who takes initiative in developing partnerships, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring data sharing objectives align with Smart Data Foundry's mission to open financial data for social good through research and insights products. The role is highly collaborative, requiring close partnership with colleagues who engage with external groups across academia, research organisations, and the public sector, as well as internal teams developing data sharing products and managing data operations.
The successful candidate will take ownership of expanding our data sharing by developing new partnerships and developing existing partner relationships whilst taking ownership of expanding our data sharing to deliver social benefit impact.
Key Responsibilities
Managing and Expanding Data Partnerships
* Develop and deepen stakeholder relationships with new and existing data partners, drive impact-driven win-win data sharing.
* Inform and influence Smart Data Foundry’s data sharing acquisition and partnership strategy.
* Work with new and existing partners on high value data sharing use cases (e.g., from current account data to business banking data) ultimately increasing data shared both in type, frequency and depth, respecting data protection and privacy considerations.
* Use key account management best practices to ensure regular contact with existing and potential partners.
* Identify new data sharing opportunities and effectively prioritise and drive and engagement plans that results in additional data sharing.
* Act as primary contact for data sharing queries and issues, responding quickly and taking ownership of solutions.
* Work closely with marketing and business development teams to maximise account marketing to drive data opportunities,
Cross-functional Collaboration
* Collaborate with engagement teams to understand data requirements and translate these into discussions with potential and existing partners, ensuring alignment between data sharing and broader social good objectives with academic institutions, research organisations, and public sector bodies
* Work with technical teams and internal teams to ensure data sharing products and activities align with partner needs and support product development and data management
* Support compliance and governance teams in maintaining regulatory standards for enhanced data sharing
* Draft and manage Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs) and sub-agreements to enable broader data access
Essential Know-How
Relationship Management Experience
* Excellent communication skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive progress, acting independently.
* Account or partner management experience with appreciation of data sharing and analytics possibilities to deliver social good
* Understanding of data partner organisations and their operational context, with awareness of privacy concerns and opportunities for expanded data sharing
* Proven ability to build and maintain relationships across diverse teams and organisations
* Experience managing complex stakeholder environments across multiple sectors
* Experience coordinating projects across multiple stakeholders and ability to work autonomously under pressure
* Understanding of contract management principles, data governance requirements, and regulatory frameworks affecting data sharing

Desirable Experience
* Experience working with banking or financial services organisations, particularly in Scotland and UK, with knowledge of major institutions and their structures
* Experience of research and academic partnerships and/or insights product development
* Experience in not-for-profit or mission-driven organisations
* Familiarity with data sharing frameworks and Trusted Research Environments
