We have a newly created role of Lead Production Engineer, reporting into the Design and Development Manager, based out of our manufacturing site in Snodland.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Production Engineer to oversee optimisation and automation initiatives, enhancing manufacturing operations for the production of our air terminal devices in the UK.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in production engineering within the manufacturing sector, with experience in change management, team leadership, and a proven record of delivering improvement projects to boost throughput and profitability.
This role requires a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, capable of driving the evolution of all aspects of production as Swegon enters the era of Industry 4.0.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1. Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team of production/process engineers, technicians, and operators to meet and exceed production and operational goals.
2. Develop and implement improvement strategies to optimise manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
3. Drive profitability through initiatives such as cost reduction, lead time reduction, and quality improvement, utilizing VAVE, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.
4. Manage change management projects to introduce new technologies, equipment, or processes with minimal disruption, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
5. Collaborate across functions including Engineering, Product Management, Quality, Health & Safety, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Production to meet targets and KPIs.
6. Participate in strategic planning for product care, capacity expansion, equipment upgrades, automation, and operator development; support investment planning and business case preparation.
Experience:
* At least 5 years of experience with automation and smart manufacturing systems.
* Proven leadership in managing teams and complex production processes.
* Expertise in lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
* Hands-on troubleshooting experience in manufacturing issues and process reliability improvements.
* Experience in creating processes and procedures, working with ISO9001/14001 quality management systems.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or NVQ equivalent).
* Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or above).
