Our Refuge in Central Bedfordshire North offers an excellent opportunity to become a domestic abuse support worker, where you will be empowered and encouraged to support survivors to reach their full potential, working with a dynamic team of specialist domestic abuse support workers. Your unique skills and attributes will be used to support survivors daily, helping them gain tools to live free from abuse.
Typical Day as a Support Worker
* Daily team briefings
* Using the Empowerment Star to create support plans with survivors
* Offering emotional support and wellbeing interventions
* Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, actions, and goal setting, with regular reviews
* Signposting and assisting survivors with finances and benefits
* Helping survivors source education, training, and employment opportunities
* Supporting survivors to maintain their tenancy by monitoring rent payments and room cleanliness
* Attending multi-agency meetings

You will bring
* A passion to support survivors to live their best lives, working collaboratively with attention to detail
* A positive 'can do' attitude and a zest for supporting people; experience is not essential as we can teach the rest
* Experience in creating person-centred support plans and supporting survivors to work on these plans
* The ability to work using your initiative, remain calm under pressure, and demonstrate resilience
* Transferrable skills if you're new to this sector
Job Details
* This role is within our Bedfordshire Services, which includes 4 refuges and safe accommodation services. You will hold a small caseload of clients.
* Work hours are 20 per week; we are flexible regarding the working days.
* Based at our North Refuge in Central Bedfordshire.
* Confident in using technology for creating/updating support plans, collaborating with colleagues, and completing online training.
* An enhanced DBS check is required; Stonewater will arrange this.
