The PCB Design Engineer is responsible for independently designing electronic schematics and PCB layouts that meet electrical performance, EMC, and manufacturing requirements. The role plays a key part in the delivery of robust, production-ready electronic hardware, working closely with hardware engineers, mechanical engineers, and production teams.
The PCB Design Engineer contributes across the product development lifecycle, from schematic capture and layout through to prototype build, testing, and production support, while working within established PCB design standards and processes.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Design electronic schematics and PCB layouts using Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, translating system and hardware requirements into effective PCB design solutions, and ensuring designs meet signal integrity, EMC, safety, and regulatory requirements.
* Apply PCB design best practices, including component placement, routing, stack-up definition, and design rule checks.
* Ensure PCB designs are suitable for manufacture, assembly, and test.
* Support prototype builds, bring-up, debugging, and validation activities.
* Assist in resolving PCB-related manufacturing, assembly, or yield issues.
* Maintain accurate schematic, layout, and library data, including symbols, footprints, and associated documentation.
* Ensure design data is released and controlled in accordance with engineering processes.
* Work closely with Hardware, Software, Firmware and Production engineers to support integrated product development.
* Participate actively in design reviews, incorporating feedback constructively.
* Communicate progress, technical issues, and risks clearly to relevant stakeholders.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to PCB design quality, efficiency, and consistency.
