Podiatrist

St Albans
Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust
Podiatrist
Posted: 23 September
Offer description

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 5 Podiatrist to join the podiatry team within Herts Valleys Integrated Diabetes service. Applications are invited from a BSc qualified and HCPC registered podiatrist. This post would suit a new graduate Podiatrist.

The service is delivered in Community Clinics, Health Centres and Acute and Community Hospital Sites. All clinics are well-equipped and operate within a supportive, skill-mixed clinical structure. Staff are supported with appraisal (PDP), protected clinical supervision sessions, dedicated CPD time and a comprehensive Induction programme. The service holds regular team meetings and training sessions.

Base salary is negotiable. Staff will be expected to work at a range of agreed clinical sites within West Hertfordshire to gain the most clinical experience.

Responsibilities

To be responsible for providing a high standard of patient-focused quality care by assessing, diagnosing and developing specialised and complex care programmes for patients with diabetes within the service criteria.

Progression, duties and pay

You will initially be employed as a Band 5 at your current salary whilst you work through Band 6 competencies and demonstrate them in practice. The maximum expected time to complete competencies and become a Band 6 – Specialist Podiatrist is approximately 18 months after starting. If successful, your salary will be reviewed and your pay band confirmed at Band 6 pay step 1. In the event of underperformance against competencies, an action plan may be put in place; you would remain as a Band 5 Podiatrist and the opportunity for Band 6 would not be confirmed. Salary payment until competencies as Band 6 are met will be on the AfC Band 5 scale. By the end of that time you will be undertaking assessment, diagnosis and treatment, including wound care, across a number of community and acute locations.

Qualifications and requirements

* Full, valid UK driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
* HCPC registered podiatrist with BSc qualification.
* Willingness to work across a range of clinical sites within West Hertfordshire.

Additional information

* Base salary is negotiable; staff will work at agreed clinical sites within West Hertfordshire to gain clinical experience.
* A High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of basic salary, subject to a minimum and maximum payment per annum, pro rata, where applicable and dependent on base.
* We encourage and support all staff to be vaccinated as this remains the best line of defence against COVID-19 (not a legal requirement).

We put our patients, their families and carers at the centre of our vision: Outstanding Services and Healthier Communities. Our staff are proud to be Innovative, Caring and Agile in their work to help achieve the Trust vision. We welcome diversity in our workforce and are interested in applicants from all backgrounds and ages.
