Job Description – Technical Director
Location: London (Hybrid/Remote considered)
Company: Will be shared privately (Early-Stage SaaS, AI-Native)
About Us
We are evolving our traditional SaaS business (post-revenue with existing happy customers) in the B2B Sparts Parts Industry into an AI-native platform transforming the way industrial businesses buy, manage, and optimise spare parts. This is a fragmented, legacy industry crying out for change – and we're here to do it with deep sector expertise, cutting-edge AI/ML, and a product designed to save buyers and operators significant time and money.
As an early-stage business, we're moving fast. We're looking for a Technical Director who can take ownership of all technical activities – from product architecture and development, through to scaling, security, and AI innovation.
The Role
The Technical Director will be the first senior technical leader in the business, reporting directly to the founder. You will be hands-on in development, while also defining the technical vision and building the engineering function over time.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the foundations of an ambitious SaaS company, with real influence on the product, team, and technology strategy.
Key Responsibilities
* Own the end-to-end technical strategy, architecture, and execution of our SaaS platform.
* Lead and actively contribute to hands-on development (initial stack: .NET backend, React frontend, Azure infrastructure – but open to the right design choices).
* Embed AI/ML models into the core product (e.g., intelligent buying agents, demand forecasting, data enrichment, redundancy stock matching).
* Work closely with the founder and commercial team to shape product roadmap and delivery priorities.
* Set up and manage best-practice development processes (DevOps, CI/CD, testing, security, code quality).
* Build and manage a technical team over time – hiring, mentoring, and establishing culture.
* Ensure the platform is scalable, secure, and enterprise-ready to support our growth trajectory.
* Work directly with early customers to understand technical needs, integrations, and feedback loops.
About You
* Proven experience as a Technical Director, CTO, Head of Engineering, or Senior Engineer in a SaaS/enterprise software environment.
* Deep expertise in AI/ML – ideally applied in operational, supply-chain, or commerce contexts.
* Strong hands-on engineering background – comfortable leading by example in coding and architecture.
* Knowledge of modern SaaS stacks (preferably .NET, React, Azure; bonus if you've worked with agentic AI frameworks).
* Understanding of ERP, MRO, or spare parts/supply chain systems strongly preferred.
* Track record of delivering enterprise-grade software that is secure, scalable, and performant.
* Comfortable working in an early-stage environment: resourceful, pragmatic, and willing to get your hands dirty.
* Strong leadership and communication skills – able to inspire confidence with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What We Offer
* Influence from Day One – help shape a category-defining SaaS product in an untapped market.
* Equity options alongside competitive salary.
* Direct collaboration with the founder and commercial leadership.
* Hybrid working flexibility (London base preferred).
* Opportunity to build and lead your own technical team as the company scales.
