About your team: At British Gas, our mission is to sell and mend energy solutions. Role: Experienced Social Worker
Location: Home-based
Type: Permanent, full-time or part-time, generally Monday to Friday, 9-5. We offer flexible working arrangements to support your lifestyle, allowing you to work from home or at an office, and discuss tailored hours if needed.
About your role: This is a new opportunity to join British Gas Energy as a Social Worker within our Vulnerable Customer Centre of Excellence. You will support at-risk individuals across the UK, helping customers in crisis, identifying vulnerabilities, and developing support strategies. Your work will empower frontline teams to provide tailored support, ensuring customers receive compassionate and effective assistance.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Identifying vulnerable customers facing financial hardship, health issues, or other vulnerabilities and developing appropriate interventions.
2. Providing support and resources, such as financial assistance, energy efficiency advice, and access to support programs.
3. Assisting in crisis situations, including health, wellbeing, mental health challenges, and energy disconnection risks.
4. Educating customers and solvers about rights, support options, and ways to reduce energy costs.
5. Collaborating industry-wide to develop and implement programs supporting vulnerable customers.
6. Addressing mental health issues related to financial stress and energy insecurity, connecting customers with appropriate services.
Candidate requirements: We seek a compassionate, solutions-focused Social Worker with proven experience in delivering high-quality social work. You should demonstrate empathy, clarity, and calmness in communication, and be confident in handling sensitive conversations. Digital confidence and the ability to navigate internal systems securely are essential. Experience in the energy or banking sectors is advantageous but not mandatory. Values-driven professionals passionate about customer service are encouraged to apply.
