The Medical Imaging Department has received major investment in CT & MRI, and has recently purchased 4 new Digital Imaging rooms and a new Emergency Department CT and X‑ray room. We provide a 24/7 CT service at the Leighton site and an 8‑to‑8 service at VIN. Successful candidates will be expected to participate in out-of-hours rotas. The department also recently opened a new emergency department CT and X‑ray room and has expanded services at Victoria Infirmary, Northwich with a new CT scanner installed and operational since June 2022.
Responsibilities
1. Maintain professional standards in accordance with Society of Radiographers policies and professional code of conduct.
2. Adhere to departmental and Trust policies and ensure others do so.
3. Attend all mandatory training as directed by the Trust.
4. Report incidents where procedures fail or do not have the intended effect.
5. Work in accordance with: IRR 17 and IR(ME)R 18 regulations, ALARA, Health & Safety Regulations and Departmental and Trust Policies and Procedures.
6. Provide evidence of continuing professional development, identify training needs and develop skills including organisation and supervisory skills and techniques.
7. Maintain HCPC registration.
8. Use independently after training the Trust PACS (Picture Archive Communication System) and departmental D/CR system, recording accurate details of faults/issues and reporting them to senior staff.
9. Maintain up-to-date skills and knowledge, and maintain an awareness of patient‑led service issues.
10. Maintain a professional/personal portfolio.
11. Adhere to Trust policy, procedures and guidelines.
12. Adhere to Trust standards of behaviour and expected performance.
13. Comply with Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) policies and procedures as appropriate to role and responsibilities; staff are personally accountable for compliance.
14. Perform duties in a caring and professional manner.
15. Perform all imaging techniques for which adequate training has been given, including CT, theatre and portable, AE, barium, dental, general and specialist radiography.
16. Review existing policies and procedures, suggesting alterations and improvements where necessary to improve workflow and quality.
17. Promote communication by attending and participating in departmental meetings.
18. Manage workloads efficiently and effectively.
19. Cover the X‑ray department at Victoria Infirmary, Northwich, when required.
20. Contribute to the planning, monitoring and control of resources.
21. Participate in audit.
22. Participate in KSF appraisal.
23. Participate in departmental Quality Assurance program, risk management and risk assessments.
24. Identify and actively promote best practice.
25. Participate in the departmental shift system to provide and maintain a quality service.
26. Perform to consistently high quality standards.
27. Contribute to the development of teams, individuals and self to enhance performance.
28. Provide staff and student training, including presentations as part of the radiographers education programme and to external bodies.
29. Create, maintain and enhance working relationships with wards, clinicians and staff.
30. Work towards obtaining the necessary skills to meet the requirements of the competency framework.
31. Perform miscellaneous duties as and when requested by the Service Manager.
