As an Assistant Store Manager at Matalan, you’ll role model our values and behaviours to support the Store Manager in exceeding sales, profit targets, and achieving all KPIs.
You will develop and lead a high-performing team, drive an inspiring VM proposition, and ensure stock availability is maximised. Engaging the team to deliver excellent customer experiences daily is essential.
1. Work alongside the store management team to drive performance, development, and succession planning.
2. Foster a service culture through coaching and sharing best practices.
3. Analyse sales performance daily, conduct floor walks, and delegate key actions to the team to seize commercial opportunities.
4. Ensure compliance and audit activities are maintained across the store.
5. Conduct regular performance reviews, identify development needs, and promote open feedback.
6. Follow the VM guide to create an inspirational shopping environment.
Candidates should ideally have previous retail management experience in a volume retailer, with a proven track record of high standards, KPI achievement, and excellent customer engagement. Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills are required, along with the ability to develop others.
