As an intern, you will join the Laboratory Test Means Electrical/Electronic Design team. You will have the opportunity to develop your soft and technical skills in a variety of end-to-end activities, including designing, building, and testing. This includes challenging and exciting projects for aircraft that are already flying and those that may fly in the future. The Laboratory Test Means Architecture and Integration team is responsible for the design, development, manufacturing, and maintenance of all Laboratory Test Means (LTM) within the Systems Integration Test perimeter. The team is transnational, with members in Toulouse, Hamburg, Bremen, and Filton. The scope of LTMs we cover includes: Virtual Platforms; Functional Integration Benches/System Integration Benches; Type 0 means (e.g., LG 0) representative of the aircraft; Ad-hoc test benches for various purposes (e.g., rapid prototyping).
Responsibilities
* Laboratory test means support
* Test Mean design and development for new test rigs
* Maintenance and evolution of current test rigs
* Maintenance and Development of the Test Management System (TMS)
* Testing of new releases of TMS
* Integration of new hardware (e.g. I/O board)
* Obsolescence management of hardware
* Contributing to the department's future test strategy
* Support projects seeking to promote new hardware technologies
* Innovate new features for test benches (e.g. Test bench interconnection, Predictive health monitoring)
* Assist LTM engineers on various activities within the design and/or maintenance groups of the department, including the design and development of electrical and/or electronic hardware for test benches and other testing needs
* Activities could involve any Airbus commercial aircraft programme, another Airbus entity programme or R&T work
* May require trips to various Airbus sites and/or supplier facilities
* Significant opportunities to develop soft skills through development tasks including school liaison events and departmental activities
Requirements and Qualifications
* Studying towards a degree in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering
* Fascinated by technical challenges with curiosity to understand how things are made
* Committed to delivering on time
* Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
* Project management knowledge or interest
* Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
* Nice to have an interest in electronics for control systems
* Knowledge or experience of AutoCAD, Fusion 360, and use of diagnostic equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters) would be an advantage
* Basic awareness of electrical safety is a plus
* Undergraduate status is mandatory for the whole duration of the placement

Security and Eligibility
You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
