Responsibilities
* Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent results across GDS projects for Version 1’s customers in the public sector.
* Be experienced in working with users and stakeholders to determine the best way to design products and services, considering the end-to-end journey and individual design elements.
* Demonstrate your ability to understand users and design to meet their needs, work to relevant design standards and communicate design decisions effectively.
* Play a key role in designing the end-to-end journey of a service to help users complete their goals and customers to deliver policy intent.
* Involve in creation or change to transactions, products and content across both digital and offline channels provided by different parts of the customer's internal infrastructure.
* Be eligible for SC clearance to be considered for this role.
Qualifications
* Design thinking and evidence-based design. You have a strong understanding of design thinking and can apply frameworks and approaches as appropriate to the project.
* You take an evidence-based approach to design, test assumptions, and aim for the simplest feasible solution for users.
* Concepts and prototyping. You can create and iterate various prototypes, select appropriate fidelity and tools, evaluate concepts, and explain them to stakeholders and team members.
* You can select, apply and adapt design patterns, and participate in wider design community discussions.
* Experience Of Accessible/ Inclusive Design. You understand key principles for accessible/inclusive design and apply them in your designs, and evaluate designs against accessibility standards.
* Knowledge And Experience Of Design Standards. You understand common design standards and how your designs comply with sector standards, including UK public sector requirements and GDS assessment processes.
* Focus on users and their needs. You can undertake basic user research, collaborate with user researchers, test usability and accessibility, and design to meet a wide range of user needs with clear design decision explanations.
* Consultancy Skills. You can communicate your design process and decisions effectively to gain confidence of internal colleagues and customers, manage stakeholders, and escalate/unblock as needed.
* Agile working in multidisciplinary teams. You understand user-centered design practices and align work to agile workflows across the development lifecycle; you work in an open, iterative and collaborative way within a multidisciplinary team.
