Job summary
This role offers the opportunity to join The Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust in a core trainee level post starting August 2024 for 12 months with potential further opportunities available from August 2025. Depending on your experience you will join as an F2/CT1/CT2 working within a specialty and rotating every four months. Candidates will have the opportunity to discuss their interests at interview.
The posts will be a combination of service delivery and educational input within General Medicine and will join a full on call rota pattern including nights and weekends.
These posts are not recognised UK training posts. However, the post-holders will have a named educational supervisor, and be supported in undertaking a wide range of CV enhancing activities as part of their role as well as taking part in scheduled educational opportunities within the Trust and specialties.

Main duties of the job
From a clinical perspective these posts will participate in the cross site junior trainee rota. The junior trainee rota is compliant with the 2016 junior doctor contract averaging 48 hours per week.
Duties will be based primarily at Pinderfields & Dewsbury sites although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all our sites.
These roles will enable the post holder to take supervised responsibility for patient care and consolidate the skills they have learned at medical school. As the post holder gains experience they will remain under clinical supervision but take on increasing responsibility for patient care. In particular they will begin to make management decisions as part of their progress to independent practice.
During their tenure the post holder will further develop their core generic skills and contribute more to the education and training of the wider healthcare workforce. At the end of their tenure the post holder will have begun to demonstrate clinical effectiveness, leadership and the decision making responsibilities that are essential for the next stage of their careers.

An Introduction to the Division / Specialty from Dr Nigel Artis - Divisional Clinical Director
The Medical Division at Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust providesacute care across the range of medical specialities in a large modern purpose-builthospital in Wakefield, which includes a large Acute Assessment Unit, AcuteElderly Assessment Unit, Coronary Care and Acute (Respiratory) Care Unit. We also provide care for Acute ElderlyAdmissions and step-down care for patients in a less acute phase of theiradmission at Dewsbury & District Hospital.
Successful applicants will support speciality teams in AcuteCare, Cardiology, Respiratory, Diabetes/Endocrine & Elderly Medicine teamsin the management of their in-patient & out-patient workload, and willparticipate in out-of-hours cover across both hospital sites.
The ServiceRole

The MYDoc Training Programme Educational Input & Recognition
Doctors appointed to a MYDoc post will receiverelevant educational input. Each doctor will beallocated an Educational Supervisor and will be required to develop aPersonalised Work Schedule.
The weeklytimetable should include a balance of these activities appropriate to yourgrade, role and training requirements.You are required to maintain a dialogue with your Clinical andEducational Supervisor to ensure the balance of these activities meets yourdevelopmental needs.
Whilst not a recognised training post Doctors successfully completing their training programme willbe awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the Trust. Doctors will use established work-placebased assessment (WPBA) tools to chart progress and keep relevant evidencein an electronic portfolio system. There will be an annual review of progress based on evidence within theportfolios including the WPBA, 360 assessment, personal reflections and CPD,covering both clinical, personal and professional development, and aCertificate of Achievement (appropriate to that year/level of training) will beissued.
Terms & Conditions and Tenure
Employment will be as a MYDoc Foundation Plus on Trust Terms and Conditions of Service.
The post is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract.
Pay Scale
These roles will be equivalent to a doctor on either the Foundation Programme or the Core training programme and will be paid on the equivalent pay scale. The salary scales are currently £37,303 (FY2 level) or £43,923 (CT level) per annum.

Appraisal and Revalidation
This post is not recognised for training and brings with it an obligation to engage with the process of revalidation on an annual basis.
All our Trust appointed doctors are required to engage positively with appraisal and revalidation. The Trust has procedures that comply with national recommendations. As a Trust employed doctor on a fixed term contract successfully appointed applicants will need to have a prescribed connection with Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust via GMC Connect and will therefore have Dr Richard Robinson, the Medical Director at the Trust as their GMC Responsible Officer.
Continuing Professional Development
The Trust requires all its doctors to engage with continuing professional development, guided by the relevant professional associations or Royal Colleges. Time and funding is provided according to departmental and Trust policies, subject to approval through the clinical management structures. There is a programme of mandatory training which all relevant staff must complete as required.
Research
Medical staff are encouraged to develop areas of personal and/or research interest. This can be developed in liaison with the Trusts R&D department and in line with prevailing policies and research frameworks. The Trust is developing an expanding and outward-looking research programme.
Educational & Clinical Supervision
The post holder will have a named educational supervisor and be expected to hold regular meetings with them during their tenure to ensure appropriate development during their appointment.
