The department of Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment is a world-leading centre for business, citizenship, computing, economics, geography, history, mathematics, religious education, science and social sciences education. A core strength of the Department is in the study, support and improvement of pedagogy, curriculum and assessment through multidisciplinary programmes. The Department hosts top-rated initial teacher education programmes, including Secondary PGCE, innovative Masters programmes and a wide range of continuing professional development courses. The department is also home to four research centres: Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Education, Centre for Holocaust Education, Centre for Teachers and Teaching Research and the Development Education Research Centre.

About The Role

The MA Education is a thriving programme which regularly recruits large cohorts of international and home students. We aim to support students to articulate, explain and justify their own position within the complex and diverse field of education.

We are looking to recruit a Lecturer (Teaching) in MA Education. The successful candidate will be the Module Leader for Curriculum Development: Issues and Principles’ CDIP Module, as well as a personal tutor and dissertation supervisor to a group of MA students. You maybe involved in contributing to teaching across a range of other modules, including our compulsory modules ‘What is Education?’ and ‘The Future of Education’ and will contribute to the development of courses and programmes in Education. In addition, you will use a range of monitoring and evaluation techniques to assess the effectiveness of course/programme delivery and will contribute to quality assurance and quality improvement within the developing frameworks of the Institute and the respective national agencies.

This post is on a part-time basis (.50 FTE/ 18.25 hours per week).

About You

The successful candidate will have a Masters degree or relevant experience in an area relevant to Education. You will have background in, or extensive knowledge of curriculum theory and have experience of working effectively with postgraduates studying on an MA Education, in both a teaching and tutoring role. In addition, you will have good knowledge of a wide range of learning and teaching approaches suited to the learning needs of postgraduate students.
