Global Sourcing Specialist
Salary: £65,000–£85,000 + PMI
Location: Hybrid | Maidenhead. Significant international travel, including US.
Overview
This is a high‑impact global sourcing role within a specialist engineering and manufacturing organisation that designs and manufactures advanced equipment and technologies used in demanding industrial environments. Operating across the UK, US and wider global markets, the business supports complex projects across sectors such as industrial automation, energy, transportation and critical infrastructure.
With major production sites in both the UK the US, the company is strengthening its global sourcing capability as it continues to scale and enhance its operational performance.
This role sits at the centre of that journey, connecting engineering, planning, production and the supply base to drive greater alignment, improve material availability and develop a more diverse and resilient group-wide supplier network.
Summary
Reporting to the Operations and Supply Chain Director, you will lead global sourcing initiatives across electronic components, engineered assemblies and industrial materials.
A key focus will be improving communication between Engineering, NPI, Planning, Production with Supply Chain, enhancing the ability to avoid shortages and late‑stage production challenges.
Alongside this, the business is looking to expand beyond its traditional UK/US supply base. You’ll play a vital role in identifying new global suppliers, deepening international relationships and ensuring that sourcing decisions support production needs, cost targets and long‑term supply chain resilience.
The position offers significant visibility, autonomy and international exposure, with monthly travel to the US and frequent visits to global suppliers.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
* Lead global sourcing initiatives across key categories including electronic components, engineered assemblies, and industrial materials
* Develop and execute sourcing strategies that balance cost, quality, lead time, and risk mitigation across international suppliers
* Own supplier relationships, including negotiation of pricing, contracts, and long-term agreements
* Partner with internal stakeholders to align sourcing decisions with production schedules and project timelines
* Monitor supplier performance through KPIs
* Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, logistics, and capacity constraints
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost optimization, lead time reduction, supplier consolidation, and consistent material availability
* Support new product introductions by sourcing materials early in the product lifecycle and ensuring supply readiness
* Collaborate with engineering teams to evaluate alternative materials, components, and suppliers
* Maintain accurate data and reporting within ERP systems to support forecasting, planning, and procurement visibility

* Enhancing supplier performance frameworks and accountability across regions
What Experience You Should Bring
* 5+ years of experience in global sourcing, procurement, or supply chain within a manufacturing, assembly or industrial environment
* Ability to travel globally to source, negotiate and maintain relationships with suppliers
* Demonstrated experience negotiating with international suppliers and managing global vendor relationships
* Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems and supply chain planning methodologies
* Global experience sourcing technical or engineered components (electronics, electrical systems, or industrial equipment preferred)
* Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive strategic sourcing decisions
* Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel proficiency
* Ability to operate in a fast-paced, project-driven environment with shifting priorities
