About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our catering team at Hamworthy Barracks. You’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality, freshly prepared meals for service personnel, supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations and ensuring the highest standards of food, hygiene, and presentation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a chef with strong leadership skills and a passion for great food to progress their career within ESS, part of Compass Group UK & Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, cook, and present meals to high standards
* Support the Head Chef with day‑to‑day kitchen management
* Maintain food safety, hygiene, and allergen compliance
* Oversee stock control, ordering, and menu support
* Train, guide, and motivate junior kitchen staff
* Ensure smooth and efficient kitchen service at all times
What We’re Looking For
* Previous experience essential in a professional kitchen (Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie level)
* Qualifications desirable (City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent)
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Passionate about great food and high standards ❤️
* Reliable, organised, and proactive
