This new full-time position is available immediately on a permanent basis and offers the opportunity for hybrid working - some time working on campus and some from home.
About the role
Are you passionate about driving health, safety and compliance across a varied and dynamic University estate? Join us, and you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping a safe and sustainable environment for our thriving community - shaping campuses that support our vision for 2030 and beyond.
As Estates Health, Safety and Compliance Manager, you will provide expert oversight and guidance across our maintenance, engineering, and capital development functions. You’ll ensure statutory compliance across our built estate, and that day-to-day operations and construction projects are delivered safely and in accordance with legislation, including CDM Regulations 2015 and both University safety and environmental standards.
Working closely with the University’s central Health & Safety team, you’ll develop, implement and monitor policies and procedures, champion best practice, and foster a strong safety culture. You’ll lead a dedicated estates health and safety team, provide competent advice and training, and collaborate with key stakeholders across the University to ensure consistency and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
* Setting and monitoring estates health, safety, and compliance policies.
* Ensuring statutory compliance and effective risk management.
* Providing leadership and expert advice to Estates teams
* Driving a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement
The successful candidate will also participate in the Estates on-call rota as required to support incidents affecting University operations.
About you
What we’re looking for:
* Proven experience in health and safety management within estates, construction and hard FM
* Strong knowledge of H&S legislation, including CDM Regulations 2015.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* A proactive approach to compliance and risk management

The starting salary will be from £50,253 on Grade G, depending on qualifications and experience
