Introduction
A well-established engineering consultancy is seeking a skilled Design Manager to support the delivery of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This is a contract opportunity to join a high-performing technical team working on large-scale, multidisciplinary programs across Canada. The role offers a diverse workload and the chance to lead design efforts from concept through to construction.
Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate design activities across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and I&C disciplines.
* Manage design budgets, schedules, and resources to meet project milestones.
* Ensure compliance with engineering standards, project requirements, and quality protocols.
* Act as a liaison between design teams and construction stakeholders during execution.
* Oversee design reviews, change control processes, and project reporting.
* Support project planning, scope definition, and proposal development.
* Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination meetings and resolve technical issues.
* Contribute to project closeout documentation and lessons learned.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution.
* Minimum 7 years of experience managing design on large municipal water/wastewater projects.
* Strong technical proficiency in one or more disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, I&C).
* Familiarity with BIM workflows and project scheduling/cost estimating tools.
* Membership with a professional engineering body (e.g. PEO) is an asset.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
