The Programme for High-Dimensional Neurology aims to create a comprehensive, large-scale, multi-site, hospital-embedded framework for complex modelling of rich clinical and brain imaging data. It will deliver a suite of real-world applications across stroke, neuroradiology, and acute cognitive dysfunction.

You will join a team of outstanding researchers passionate about innovation with rapid, real-world impact, achievable within the lifetime of the project. This role offers superb training opportunities for those seeking an academic career in translational research or aiming to move into industry through spin-outs or established enterprises.

The Research Assistant position is offered part-time at hours per week (Full Time Equivalent), and the Research Fellow position is also part-time at hours per week (Full Time Equivalent). Both roles are eligible for hybrid working, with a minimum of 50% on-site presence, and will require travel across different UK locations.

The post is available from 07 July and is funded by the National Brain Appeal until 31 August initially.

About you

You will have an Honours degree in mathematics, engineering, computer science, or equivalent industrial experience. Essential qualities include general machine learning experience, an interest in research, and a commitment to supporting high-quality research. Knowledge of complex modelling within neuroscience, neuroimaging, or healthcare, along with proficiency in higher-level programming languages such as Python, is required.

Knowledge of software development cycles and practices, experience translating science and engineering into real-world solutions, and familiarity with neuroimaging and statistical analysis software are desirable. Candidates with a PhD in a relevant area will also be considered.


What we offer

The starting salary for a Research Assistant is on UCL Grade 6B, ranging from £23,20 to £24, [60% of £38, - £41] per annum, including London Allowance.

Candidates with a PhD may be appointed as a Research Fellow at UCL Grade 7, with a salary range of £22, - £25, [50% of £44, - £51], per annum, including London Allowance.
