Our client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is looking for a detail-focused General Operator to join their cutting-edge manufacturing team. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in microelectronics assembly, particularly those confident working under a microscope with extremely small components.
You'll be part of a high-performing team supporting the production of advanced missile systems, with a focus on precision soldering and assembly of circuit card components. If you have a steady hand, a sharp eye, and thrive in a cleanroom-style environment-this is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assembling and soldering microelectronic components under a microscope
2. Following detailed manufacturing instructions and quality standards
3. Supporting sub-assembly and certification processes
4. Working across departments including PEC/CCA, looming, plastics, and stores
5. Ensuring compliance with health & safety and ESD protocols
Tentatively work across several departments, these might include:
6. Looming: binding wire looming is a cable assembly that efficiently distributes electrical signals by linking cables together using a crimping tool. (Ex; wiring, root wiring, soldering and fibre optics cabling),
7. PEC and CCA Assembly
8. Microelectronics
9. Plastics Department (Ex; applying glues, cutting out intricate patterns, and moulding).
10. Manufacturing Controller/Stores
What do you need?:
11. Proven experience in microelectronics or fine-pitch soldering
12. Comfortable working under a microscope for extended periods
13. Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail
14. Ability to read and follow technical layouts and instructions
15. IPC 610 certification (preferred)
16. ESD training (essential)
17. Basic PC and Microsoft Office skills
18. Experience with crimping tools and small-scale assembly
Additional skills:
19. Experience utilising a soldering iron and working with manufacturing micro-components
20. Experience using a microscope/magnifying glass
