Job Overview
Maintenance Technician (Electrical) – We need an electrical technician to join our team to keep our hospital environment safe and operational. The role blends planned maintenance with emergency repairs, supporting the wellbeing of patients, staff and visitors day in, day out.

Responsibilities
* Planning and executing maintenance tasks to keep buildings, plant and equipment in top condition.
* Prioritising safety by conducting regular inspections and addressing potential hazards.
* Responding promptly to maintenance requests and collaborating effectively with colleagues.
* Adapting to changing priorities and working flexibly to support clinical teams and patient care.
Main Duties
* Working closely with all trade groups.
* Controlling contractors.
* Dealing with technical issues.
* Overseeing small project works.
* Completing monthly compliance reports.
* Communicating with staff and patients on site.
* Arranging shutdowns for critical works.
* Ordering equipment for projects.
* Interrogating the BMS system.
* Assisting Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineers and other staff groups in repairing, servicing and inspecting building, mechanical and electrical systems.
Person Specification
Qualifications – Essential Criteria
* Advance level electrical or mechanical engineering apprenticeship (4–5 years) and at least 5 years of post‑apprenticeship experience, plus BTec/HNC/HND qualification.
* Engineering/Building based NVQ level 3 outside core trade, enabling multi‑skilled work. Those without these qualifications must complete relevant training within 12 months.
* Completed City & Guilds – Steriliser Testing for Craftsmen – Porous Load & Type "N" Bench Top Sterilisers HTM 2010.
* Completed City & Guilds – Quarterly Testing of Bench Top Sterilisers HTM 2010 / MDA DB 9804.
* Completed City & Guilds – Periodic Testing of Washer Disinfector HTM 2030.
Experience – Desirable Criteria
* Demonstrable experience within the decontamination field.
Knowledge – Essential Criteria
* In‑depth technical knowledge of service, repair and testing to meet regulatory standards.
Knowledge – Desirable Criteria
* Knowledge of Trust rules regarding patient confidentiality.
* Knowledge of steam raising plant & calorifiers.
* Knowledge of control equipment.
* Knowledge of Building Management Systems.
* Understanding of water byelaws.
