Carmichael UK are working on behalf of a Tier 1 contractor to recruit a Sub Agent for a major highways project in Cambridgeshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer to step into a leadership role with responsibility for planning, delivering, and handing over a complex and varied package of civil engineering works. You’ll be supported by a wider team but expected to take ownership of your section including roadworks, paving. slip form and asphalt, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, and to the required standards. Key Responsibilities: Lead the planning, delivery and close-out of a defined section of works Produce and maintain detailed 3-month lookaheads aligned with the contract programme Conduct temporary works inspections and ensure safe systems are in place Review design information and liaise with design teams to resolve technical queries Ensure accurate site records and daily updates are maintained Manage requisitions for materials and plant effectively Oversee the capture and storage of quality assurance records Generate and close out Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) promptly Champion health, safety, environmental, and carbon-reduction standards on site Support and lead your engineers and supply chain partners Requirements: Background in highways construction, ideally on large infrastructure schemes Degree or HND in Civil Engineering (or relevant training) CSCS card & SMSTS Proficient in MS Office, document control, and digital site tools Strong communication and planning skills Understanding of engineering principles, construction methodologies, and contracts
