Overview
Turners (Soham) Ltd are seeking a motivated and experienced Container Transport Operations Manager to lead our Castleford-based operation within our expanding Container Division. This is a fantastic opportunity for an established transport professional to play a key role in ensuring the efficiency, compliance, and profitability of one of the UK's leading logistics operations.
As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the effective day-to-day running of the Container Fleet, ensuring that all legal, health & safety, financial, and performance standards are consistently met and exceeded. You will oversee operational teams, support business growth, and drive continuous improvement across the division.
Responsibilities
* Manage Depot Operational teams to ensure full compliance with all Health & Safety, legal, and HR requirements.
* Oversee operational performance, ensuring service excellence for our customers.
* Monitor and review fleet utilisation and driver resources to maximise efficiency and profitability.
* Work closely with the Fleet Department and CPC Holders to maintain the highest compliance standards.
* Manage financial reporting and ensure all deadlines are consistently met.
* Conduct strategic customer reviews, negotiating rate adjustments where appropriate.
* Manage relationships with driver agencies, ensuring supplied drivers meet company standards.
* Identify and develop new business opportunities to support continued growth.
* Lead the implementation of new contracts, ensuring a smooth transition into operational delivery.
* Encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing across the wider Turners Group to enhance efficiency and service.
* Set and maintain professional standards for Driver Trainers within the division.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in container transport operations management or a similar logistics leadership role.
* Strong understanding of transport legislation, compliance, and commercial operations.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
* Commercially focused, with the ability to balance efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.
* Flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
