Community Occupational Therapist (Adult)
Band 7
Highly specialist Occupational Therapist with extensive experience of working in community adult social care. Work with vulnerable adults to provide expert assessment and advice, and arrange service provision to improve independence, promote safety and adapt the environment. Contribute to day to day running of the service, and service improvement. Offer line management and supervision to occupational therapists and occupational therapy technicians. Experience working within adult social including major adaptations process. Experience of teaching others and presentations. Highly effective communicator. Ability to lead and motivate team. Experience of complex manual handling, standard and specialist equipment.

Main duties of the job
* Assess functional needs of adults in their home environment, recommend and implement an occupational therapy plan to optimise function and quality of life.
* Ensure that assessment and intervention are culturally sensitive.
* Contribute to overall operation of the service.
* Support the team development in a specific area of community occupational therapy, e.g. intake and duty, complex manual handling, major adaptations.
* Supervision and mentoring of occupational therapists and occupational therapy technicians.
* Assessing for and supporting client through major adaptation process. To include DFG, liasing with housing and surveyors, Working with council and staying put.

Person Specification
* Significant experience and knowledge of adult social care
* Experience of clinical supervision and appraisals
* Experience in leadership, management, audits
* Experience of presenting, teaching
* Advanced knowledge of assessment and treatment
* Evidence of partnership working
* Flexible approach
* Student or OT technician supervision
* Up to date knowledge of equipment/ technology
* Knowledge of safe moving and handling techniques
* Ability to work under pressureExperience of managing staff
* Experience of managing complex adaptations
* Indepth knowledge of complex manual handling and equipment
* HCPC registration
* Knowledge of Care Act
