You and the role The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the asset is maintained in line with the company standards. Supporting the Rig Manager(s) and maintenance personnel to ensure all routines and inspections are completed. Ensuring all changes to the asset or Rig are controlled and the associated records are updated. Primary responsibilities Maintain a preventative maintenance programme in accordance with company policy. Ensure that all modifications or changes to the unit are recorded in line with company standards. Ensure maintenance routines are updated or modified where necessary. Plan and schedule all maintenance activities with operations management to ensure timely completion. Investigate all maintenance‑related failures in line with company standards. Systematically review rig spares and critically manage stock levels. Raise purchase orders for specialists prior to visits and manage them commercially. Conduct offshore visits as required. Provide specialist technical support to the unit. Ensure third‑party contractors adhere to standards and purchase order terms. Assist in the preparation of yearly rig budgets and 5‑year asset plans to support long‑term maintenance strategy. Track maintenance budgets and ensure costs are visible to management and maintenance teams. Document and share rig improvements and best practices via the corporate maintenance function. Ensure maintenance staff are trained and competent. Recruit or transfer staff in line with company procedures. Participate in the on‑call rota as required. Experience Significant supervisory experience in the offshore drilling industry or in a drilling equipment related maintenance environment. Knowledge of all drilling related equipment in relation to mechanical, electrical and systems. Knowledge and experience of working within client owned CMMS (SAP/Maximo etc). Project management/rig upgrade experience is desirable. Behaviour and Skills Committed to safe working practices. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to work individually and as part of a team. Highly self-motivated, with the ability to work under pressure and on occasion outside of normal working hours. Well-developed problem-solving skills and techniques to identify root causes and potential solutions. Ability to liaise with drilling rigs’ technical teams and rig management teams. Ability to lead teams and liaise effectively with external parties (client, OEM, vendors, regulators etc). Minimum qualifications Relevant recognised trade qualification. Recognised engineering qualification, desirable but not essential.
