Job Description:
An exciting job role has recently become available at the Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council. They are looking for a new member for their Safeguarding Triage Team.
Your Responsibilities:
You will take personal responsibility for continuing professional development and maintaining performance levels. You will manage time effectively and respond flexibly to service needs. Additionally, you will provide support and cover for the Team Manager and/or Principal Manager, actively participate in the performance management system, including supervision, PAR, team meetings, and service reviews. You will follow departmental health and safety procedures, develop skills through work experience in various divisional situations, such as secondments, job rotation, and shadowing, and contribute to information management processes. Supporting social work students on placement under the direction of the Principal or Practice Manager, acting as a workplace supervisor or Practice Teacher if appropriately trained, will also be part of your role. Child Protection Social Workers need to understand and integrate into practice the key policies of the council in relation to social care with children and families, especially multi-disciplinary working, integration, and whole family approaches.

Qualifications and Experiences:
You should have experience in adult social care, particularly in safeguarding and triage roles. Proficiency in conducting assessments and making informed decisions based on those assessments is highly valued. You should have an understanding of safeguarding adults procedures and the ability to apply them in practice. Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and other professionals, as well as the ability to analyse complex information and make sound decisions, are essential. To be eligible for this role, you must have Social Work England registration and be eligible to work in the UK. Additionally, you need to hold a full UK driving licence and possess post-qualified experience. A degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work is also required.
