You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of IT services across the University - acting as the first point of contact and providing frontline technical support to staff and students via our IT help desk. This includes assisting with drop-ins, maintaining and repairing equipment, supporting network upgrades, and managing IT stock and system access. You will also provide technical support for key University events and help maintain a reliable, secure, and efficient digital environment. About The Role: As an IT Services Technician, you will deliver responsive, customer focused support through the University’s service desk, diagnosing and resolving a range of hardware, software, and connectivity issues. You will help ensure seamless academic and administrative operations, contribute to system upkeep and optimisation, and promote best practice across our IT services. About You: The ideal candidate will be a friendly and proactive IT professional who will have: A recognised IT qualification (e.g. CompTIA A, Microsoft) or equivalent experience. Experience providing frontline IT support in a busy, multi-user environment. Confidence troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues across Windows, macOS, and BYOD devices. Experience using service desk and ticketing systems. Good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Google Workspace (or Microsoft 365). Awareness of networking, databases, cybersecurity, and GDPR. Great communication skills and a helpful, customer-focused approach. It would be great if you also have: Advanced IT certifications (e.g. CompTIA Network, Microsoft Certified IT Professional). Experience providing second-line support or resolving complex issues. Experience supporting AV/IT equipment or creating web content (HTML, PHP, CSS). Experience working in a higher or further education environment.
