We’re looking for a Night Shift Engineering Team Lead to take charge of our engineering function during the night shift, ensuring machinery runs smoothly, breakdowns are resolved swiftly, and the team operates safely and efficiently. In this pivotal role, you’ll provide leadership, technical expertise, and guidance to the night shift engineering team, maintaining high standards of reliability and supporting continuous improvement across our site. When the Engineering Shift Manager is off-site, you’ll be the senior engineering presence, keeping operations running seamlessly. What You’ll Do Lead, support, and motivate the night shift engineering team. Prioritise and coordinate maintenance and breakdown response to minimise downtime. Carry out fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repairs on production equipment. Ensure Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules are delivered effectively. Drive reliability and performance improvements across machinery and processes. Maintain accurate records through CMMS and ensure stock control compliance. Champion health & safety, ensuring all work meets company and regulatory standards. Collaborate with production and other teams to deliver effective engineering solutions. About You You’re an experienced engineer and natural leader who enjoys working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. You’ll bring: Proven leadership or supervisory experience within an engineering team. Time-served apprenticeship or formal qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering. Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills. Experience in a manufacturing or food production environment. Knowledge of compliance standards (PUWER, LOLER, and Health & Safety). A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a drive for continuous improvement. Confidence working autonomously and making decisions under pressure. Key Measures of Success Reduced unplanned downtime.
